A while back I wrote an article about nail tools you didn’t know you needed and even further back I wrote about nail art tools for beginners and I wish that I had known at the time about liquid nail tape!
If you haven’t heard of liquid nail tape it’s basically a tinted bottle of liquid latex that you can brush on to your cuticle area to prevent nail polish mistakes. You could probably use just plain old liquid latex if you have that for some reason, but the tint makes it easier to see it and remove it. I have seen people do this method with Elmers glue as well. It’s sorta works if you don’t want to shell out ten bucks for the liquid tape but I tried that first and I didn’t find that it was very easy to peel off when the job is done.
This stuff can come in handy for a few reasons. The most obvious reason is regular old run of the mill messy manicures. If you just can’t seem to color in the lines then this can really help. I’m not trying to brag but personally I don’t have an issue with regular manicured getting on my skin, but it does come in handy when I’m doing nail art that involves using a sponge or something along those lines.
Not sure what the holy shart I’m talking about? No worries! Let’s go through it step by step.
STEP 1
Apply the liquid nail tape around your nails on the cuticle area. Make sure there’s not too much product on the brush, or it mat pool up and get on your nail.
STEP 2
Got it on your nail anyway? Use a clean, dry brush or even a toothpick to wipe away the excess.
STEP 3
Do your thing. Paint your nails, sponge on a pattern, whatever it is you gotta do that may require some clean up after.
STEP 4
Wait for everything to dry thoroughly and then just peel off the liquid tape.
BOOM! NO MESS.
I don’t know about you guys but I really wish I had seen the value in liquid nail tape earlier. I always saw it on Instagram videos and thought it was just a gimmick, now I’m looking back at all the time I could have saved cleaning up after messy nail art. I could have been eating snacks in that time. What a damn waste.
